  27. It sounds like the computer is not receiving any data from the modem,
  28. which may be because the irq isn't working, or perhaps the data just
  29. isn't getting from the modem to the serial port (if external a cable
  30. may be bad, internal then it is bad).

  32. Does the modem work properly with other software?
  33. Double check that the irq is set properly for the modem/serial port.
  34. Double check that the irq doesn't conflict with anything else.
